How many birds can you see?

Not an optical illusion, but I was out doing my first BTO Thrush Survey of the year today and thought I’d share a picture and ask people to tell me how many birds they see. Answer tomorrow. Feel free to ID them all too. Are they definitely all the same species?

It’s always a challenge as they tend to jump around between neighbouring trees, so keeping track can be tricky!

When you’ve made your count, just submit your answer via the comments.

28 definite, and 3 more that could be just branch formations. 30 is my best guess.

The identifiable ones all seem redwing but can’t be sure about all, particularly those head-on.

Yeah, not always easy to be certain. There are other pics where I’m almost certain there are Fieldfare, but still not sure enough to register them on the survey site.

I welcome thoughts, comments and questions, so please feel free to share anything at all. Thanks, David
