30 Days Wild – Day 17 – Life in an oak tree

TWT 30 Days Wild_countdown_17Today’s random act of wildness was taken over lunch, counting Blue and Great Tits that were both clearly feeding young in an oak tree.Over the course of an hour adult Great Tit(s) went in six times.

In the same time span the Blue Tit(s) went in nearly twice as much, eleven times, suggesting they had latched on to a more convenient food source.

No young were seen, and it was hard to say whether there were two adult or one of each. The doubling up could also have meant both Blues feeding with only the single Great.
